CPR for Healthcare Providers

The American Heart Association’s Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation course is based on the assessment and management of the cardiac arrest victim for the healthcare provider. BLS (Basic Life Support) for Healthcare Providers.

WHO:
This course is an initial certification course intended for individuals who provide health care to patients of both in-hospital and out-of-hospital environments. This may include, but is not limited to EMT students, nursing students, medical assistants, phlebotomist, patient transporters, dental assistants, nurses (LVN, RN), CNA’s, occupational therapists, firefighters, EMTs/Paramedics, physicians, physician’s assistants, doctors/surgeons.

DESCRIPTION:
This classroom/video based course reflecting the new science from the 2010 American Heart Association Guideline for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care teaches the AHA Chain of Survival, critical concepts of high-quality CPR and techniques, 1 and 2 rescuer CPR and AED use for the adult, child and infant as well as bag valve mask techniques, rescue breathing and relief of choking. This course is hands on and participants will practice all skills taught.

Participants should wear loose, comfortable clothes. Please advise our educational staff prior to class of any physical limitations so that reasonable accommodations can be made. If you are currently under the care of a physician due to illness, pregnancy, or any other medical condition, consult with your healthcare provider and obtain a doctor’s note prior to registering for the class.

The American Heart Association’s Heartsaver First Aid, CPR and AED Course.

WHO:
This course is for any individuals with limited or no medical training that would like to be knowledgeable in First Aid and CPR or who is required to provide a course completion card in first aid, CPR and AED to meet job or regulatory requirements. This can include, but is not limited to, security officers, lifeguards, teaching assistants, teachers, coaches, contractors, farmers, fitness trainers, coaches, electricians, police officers, firefighters, and more. This course is also appropriate for the general community member who wants to learn first aid skills for his/her own knowledge.

DESCRIPTION:
This classroom/video based course reflecting the new science from the 2010 American Heart Association Guideline for Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation and Emergency Cardiovascular Care teaches first aid basics, medical, injury and environmental emergencies as well as CPR and the use of the AED for the adult, child, and infant.
